Kiwoom`s foreign pitchers Ariel Furado and Enmanuel de Heissus, and batter Ronnie Dawson have contributed to the team by displaying outstanding skills. Foreigners` one-two punch Furado has been invigorating the starting lineup with the 13th inning of the season`s 13th inning, with eight wins, four losses and 105 ⅓ innings. Heissus ranks first in multiple wins in the KBO league. He has 10 wins, four losses and an earned run average of 3.14 quality starts in 17 games during the season. Dawson is also invigorating offense. He has a batting average of 0.358 (112 hits in 313 at-bats) in 77 games with 10 homers and 44 RBIs in OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) of 0.980.

Furado ranks No. 1 in the quality start category in the league, while Hayesus shares second place with William Cuevas of the KT Wiz and Aaron Wilkerson of the Lotte Giants. Dawson is displaying stellar performance by ranking second in the batting average league and No. 1 in the number of hits.

Since the opening, several clubs have been struggling with foreign players. Many have chosen to replace them due to unstable skills and injuries. Kiwoom is free from such concerns at least until the end of the first half. This is because Furado, Heysus and Dawson are all playing better than expected.

"I remember having a meal with three foreign players before the opening game. We don't consider you as mercenaries. We consider you as family," Hong said. He also asked for good leadership as there are many young players in pitchers and fielders. The word mercenaries is awkward to see young players sharing various tips with young players. "I think I am a family member, and I personally think that I will be able to play baseball (with my performance)."

Furado, Heysus, and Dawson are also quite adaptable. They have permeated perfectly into many cultural fields, including food. "Dawson already had a taste for domestic food. I didn't see them last season, but I was worried a lot during the training session that I gained a lot of weight by having them delivered from a Chinese restaurant. I'm not worried about food because Korean food fits me well," he said with a smile.

Furado started in the first of three consecutive games against LG on Saturday, his last appearance in the first half of the week. He led his team to a 4-2 victory with seven hits (one homer), five strikeouts and no four outs in seven innings on the day. Heysus took the mound as the starting pitcher for the second time in three consecutive games against LG a day later (July 3). He allowed four hits, eight strikeouts and two walks in six innings to lead his team to a 4-1 win, thereby contributing to his team's confirmation of the winning series. Fielders Dawson also played an active role. In the second game of the three consecutive games against LG, he doubled in the bottom of the first inning to help the team achieve the winning series.

Along with foreign players, Kiwoom is dreaming of turning around in the second half of the year. Will Furado, Heysus and Dawson be a big help to Kiwoom as they are now.
